TED talk given by Niall Ferguson
I agree with the points given by Niall Ferguson. He was very smart and the points he made were very logical. He made six points or 'apps' from western culture that help societies. These include: competition, the scienentific revolution, property rights, modern medicine, the consumer society and the work ethic. I agree with him in that all of those can be used and shared to help expansion and societies profitiablity. I really enjoyed the video because it was interesting and not slow and boring like I thought it might have been.

The Ottomans, Safavids and Mughals
1. The reason for the textbook to group the Ottomans, the Safavids and the Mughals is becuase they all had the same Islamic religion. That is the main reason but also the three groups have other similarities that would make it beneficial to group them together. This was good decision in the sense that you could see the similarities of the different groups right together and in line. Personally for me I like things being clearly separate and more easily to distinguish between, that way there is no confusion.
2.This period of global interactions was in my opinion a good one. Like everything there are bad things too but the good things make the bad things seem less negative. Some of the good things about this time period was the productive trading and trade routes established. This was not only helpful for that time period but also for future time periods. The slavery during this time period was helpful and very good, even though it is not a good thing it was helpful for trading and the people at the time.

Passage about Christianity
The passage is about Christianity and Fabian Fucan finding the faults in it. He first starts by attacking the religious aspect of it by explaining how their faith is wicked and later he says crooked. He also talks about the political aspects of the religion by saying that the Christians are only looking to take over Japan. Another is the social aspect of the religion where he says that is lacking because they do not value the follower's lives, by calling them 'less than trash'. Lastly he discusses the history of Christianity by comparing it to Buddhism. By doing this he makes Buddhism seem more of a legitimate than Christianity.

Capitalism
After reading I now have a clearer view on capitalism. I think it is when companies wether small or large run the company all by themselves meaning they use their own supplies, equipment and materials. This system allows people to make their own decisions about their company. Also the important part of this economic system is competition and supply and demand. I still am slightly confused on this whole concept but way clearer than I was a few days ago!

Christianity and Capitalism
In my opinion I think Christianity keeps splitting up into different ways because of several reasons. One reason is because over time people naturally will question and discuss what they believe and sometimes that will form new branches of the religion. Also people who want to have more power can branch off of the main religion to form their own and therefore have more power.
I do not know what capitalism is really but I know it has to do with the economy and money. I really have no idea the specifics though :(
